Chilli's

I've been thinking of writing food reviews for quite a while now.. & considering how much i eat, it's not a bad idea at all! So here goes my first food review blog.. :D

Ever since Sanchos shut down (first from south ex & then CP), Delhi is officially devoid of any good mexican food retaurant. No, Rodeo does not qualify coz' it serves Dal & Paneer in it's buffet.. hehe!
And as for Amigo, well a bad experience there (let's not get into details but it involved an insect) would ensure i never go there again!
So my long wait for cheesy Tacos, Burritos, Enchiladas & Quesadillas finally ended when the American chain Chillis opened it's shutter at the Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj!

Firstly, the ambiance: I'd give it a high rating of 8/10 because i felt extremely comfortable there. Plenty of seating space, despite which I'm guessing they'r gonna have waiting soon.

Now the Food : The Menu is well focused. In appetizers, go for their Classic Nachos- not as messy as the ones at Hard Rock (which is think are superb) but tasty in their own way. And dare not forget the Onion Rings & Jalapeno Pepper stack (they were almost over by the time i remembered to take the pic :P ).. the yummiest big basket of fried vegetarian appetizer I've had!

In drinks menu is pretty good too, they serve 4 chilled Beers in a basket for just 500 & for just Rs.100 you get unlimited refills of any soft drink (diet coke, sprite etc)! That's pretty neat i say.. But forget all that & go for their Minty Melon, a mocktail that'll blow your mind away.. it's so refreshing & comes in a big martini glass that looks like it belongs to a clown. Very cute :D

Now the main course, It's kinda difficult to decide but i chose the classics -Cheese & Mushroom Tacos, the Vegetable Quesadillas, Chicken Fajitas & the Crispy Honey-Chipotle Chicken Crispers. Quite a big order eh? Yes, we were 4 people.. & we all eat like Monsters :D
By the way, they give you an option of choosing your tacos Crisp or non-Crisp, i always go for the crisp ones cos, even thought it makes the food messy, it just tastes better!
The tacos were messy and delicious.. they don't go stingy on the cheese or the vegetables inside & i like that. The quesadillas too, were made to perfection & boy, were they cheesy :P Both of these dishes were served with rice & black-beans on the side, true mexican way!
The chicken, OMG the CHICKEN.. it was awesome! so crispy and flavorful on the outside & juicy on the inside! The chicken is served with fries and corn-on-cob on the side. I'd actually go back there just for the chicken, no wait, actually i'd go back for a lot of things :D
Oh & the Fajitas were good too.. i can't write too much about them coz i just had a bite or two & I'm not a big Fajita fan! Over all, I'd give the food a high 8.5/10

Cheese & Mushroom Tacos
Quesadillas
Honey crispy-chipotle chicken, with fries & corn on the side!

The service at the place was quick & efficient, most dishes came within 10 minutes of ordering. The portions are BIG & the prices are not. The staff is well informed and makes good suggestions, I personally find that a very good thing.

One extremely wonderful thing about this restaurant is that despite having a full Bar, it still seems like a family restaurant & is very child-friendly. My second visit here was with my 3yr-old niece and the waitress was kind enough to get a baby chair along with an activity kit that contained child-safe crayons & coloring book to keep them entertained. Excellent way to attract families I say!

After visiting the place thrice, I'd strongly recommend this place. Be it for a couple of drinks with buddies, or a fulfilling meal with family after shopping.. A good place to unwind!

Sweety.. :P

Everybody's seen Kaminey by now, right?
now i aint discussing the movie here, some love it, some hated it!
the movie was no doubt all about Shahid Kapur..
but i found something much more interesting in that movie: Sweety!
Sweety may not have bulging biceps & laser-powered eyes, but she qualifies as a super-hero for me.
She likes to make the first move seducing her boyfriend (hawwww.. right?), calls up a Pandit for her own wedding, dances in her own wedding's Baraat, books her own honeymoon package, takes a machine gun & threatens to kill her own brother if her husband's safety is not insured, all this while she's pregnant with her boyfriend's kid. ok the last one's typically bollywood, but the fact is, she knows wat she wants and gets it!
I dont know about the rest of u out there, but i was turned on by the amount of strength shown by that girl over there. She be the modern day Sita? hah. But hey, she's everything i like in a girl..
In fact, she may be the very Miss Independent, Ne-yo's been crooning about all this while..

ima plannin to sue Bollywood..
wat say??
in this scorching heat...
wen sum1 has holidays..
one cannot imagine an option other than goin for a movie
because of the heat..
and my parents... like any other conventional parents..
do not like watching english movies..
thats when the responsibility of indian movie directors comes in..
they sould be more considerate..
and bring out good movies so that people can come and waste their hard earned money watching them
on the contrary, the only movies they could come up with this friday were
1.The Train...
now that being a certain kissable boy starrer, wud be opposed as a prospective family movie..
2. Fool n Final
sum comic flick starring kiddie-duo Shahid kapoor and Ayesha takia(read:Tacky-ia)
this leaves me with no other option but to Khao ur dimag over such a wasteful topic
excuse the sudden frustrated outburst of anti-bollywood comments
but it seems the idleness created by the heat and the heat itself seems to have affected my mind...

a night at McDonalds... i know... sounds pathetic..!!

the super successful fast food retail chain giant's business strategy, since the beginning, has been focusing on adapting to the local area
to make the customers feel comfortable.. quite an Irony..
situated in the center of one of Asia's biggest markets and a shopping heaven for Delhi's strong 7 million plus middle class families..
it sure had adapted to the local environment...
IT WAS OVER-CROWDED!
no wait.. thats an under-statement.. it was over flowing..
now i dont call myself a Snob,at least thats wat i think..
but pushing my way through sweaty, hungry shoppers tired of shopping(read bargaining) all day
to get to a counter taking orders for 20 rupee burgers and 7rupee ice-creams
is not exactly what i call being civilized..
but oh well.... dear ol' Sis had asked for a Mcdonalds 'ka lite wala burger..'
i could not possibly make her feel guilty of having a heavy-on-cheese pizza from what seemed like out of business compared to here, Pizza Hut,cud i??
so i pushed through.. ordered 2 veggie cheese and im out..
oh wat the fuck.. they gave me a chicken Mcgrill by accident... grrr...
"sorry Sir,as u can see,itz really crowded here today" isnt it always.. "u can have this ice-cream on us while u wait for ur burgers..
well that cant be bad.. free ice cream.. i took one spoon in my mouth
wat the fuck... ??? isn't ice cream supposed to be sweet???
i started out after taking my bag.. i checked if they gave me the right order this time..
in my own voice i was swearing i wud never come bak here..
itz so crowded,so low class,so Yuck..!!!
just as i headed for the dust bin outside the main door to throw the hardly eaten ice cream..
the lil child accompanying the begger stopped me from throwin that ice cream..
"mujhe de do saab, phenko mat, main kha lunga"
i dint say anythin... he just took it from my hand and called upon a few friends..
all were about 3 feet tall... it was like a group of dusty haired monkeys
and wen they dispersed,i saw an empty cup being licked by the lil boy who took it out of my hand..
he looked at me,smiled, and threw the perfectly cleaned licked cup in the bin
Didi ate her burger with a guilt-free glee in her eye..
i know it tasted pathetic, but i still swallowed it, with a lil Appy fizz and a lot of guilt..!!
